“My best ever manager was Rowena Paddon at Deloitte. I was in my early twenties when I joined Ro’s team and she very quickly became a mentor as well as a manager to me.

She was incredibly supportive and trusting and that gave me the confidence I needed to feel more secure in my new role which, at the time, was a stretch for me.

She was confident, clear and honest in her approach but never arrogant. She would frequently ask me for feedback as well as being generous with hers. She spent a lot of time with me and always encouraged me to focus on my longer term development.

She coached me brilliantly (before I even knew what coaching was) and gave me a few reality checks along the way, as well as giving me some brilliant opportunities to step up.

I moved onwards and upwards pretty quickly after just a year working for Ro but, like all great managers, she didn’t hold me back just so that she could keep me in her team. I credit Ro with really kick starting my career.”
