“My best manager was Sally Webster at Guardian News & Media. She started at a time when I’d been in the business for three years and was thinking about my next move”
Her vision for the department was the first thing that reignited my interest. She saw how HR could play a more strategic role within the organisation and set about planning how to make this happen, involving me in her decision making along the way.
She took me into her confidence, frequently asking for my opinion but also guiding me when my approach needed developing or challenging.
She was never shy about giving honest feedback, all of it intended for me to get better at what I was doing.
I stayed for another three years and benefited from new experiences and growth that prepared for my career as a consultant and business owner.”
