Plotting Performance

Plotting the performance and the potential of the people you manage is an important first step in understanding how to get the best out of them or address issues. It’s also a useful management discipline to adopt as people change and it’s important that you adapt too.

You will:

Understand what is meant by the terms performance and potential
Be familiar with a 9-box model that enables you to plot performance against potential
Recognise the characteristics and challenges associated with managing individuals in each box
Categorise the people that you manage according to their last quarter and plan how to adapt your style to manage them
